My boyfriend and I discovered geocaching and can't get enough of it! Free time isn't something we have much of, but when we do have it, you can bet that we're probably out caching. These are some of our adventures!

Apparently there’s an area in Mulberry (around my parents’ house) that has a “power trail” — 76 geocaches along this stretch of road known as Bone Valley. Nick and I are going to be out there tomorrow… we’ll probably try tackling a portion of it.

So… that’s that.

Nicholas and I woke up today completely ready to go on an adventure and get us some caches, as can be seen in the provided picture:

Our first stop: Space Coast Geocachers. This is a little store on Merrit Island that sells geocaching swag and goodies — Nick got a Travel Bug, I grabbed a patch and a butterfly micro to hide with my sister when Nick and I go to Lakeland on Monday. But I digress. The highlight of this trip was definitely finding

A Cool Cache (GC15RQB)

Yes, that is a large ammo can. A large, well stocked, made of plywood ammo can. This was the real reason we came to the store… there was a picture of this floating around somewhere and as soon as we saw it, we knew the trip had to happen. The man who runs the store, I would assume his name is Dale, was nice enough to take our picture with this. Onward!

MAXimum Muggles (GC25WVR)

Typical LPC… nothing too crazy. But nice to find nonetheless!

Harbor View? (GC1X82V)

This one had us tricked for a hot second — we thought it was through a gate with a lock that locked to be locked, but wasn’t. After looking around for about 3 minutes, I noticed something odd (fence post cap) and tried to reach for it. Alas, I was too short and Nick had to come back and get it. Neat find :]

From here we took a break from the heat and grabbed some lunch at the nearby mall… and then hit the road again.

It’s an Island Thing (GC1R6V9)

Found this little sucker up in a tree. But before we found the cache, we found this:

This is a munzee. Nick and I had never heard of it before, so we looked it up and gave it a shot. From what we can tell, it’s similar to geocaching, but rather than physical containers and things, you find these QR codes, scan them, and gain points. These points allow you to level up and stuff… I dunno. We haven’t completely figured it out quite yet. If any of you know anything about it, or have any opinions, let us know!

Anyway, after the munzee extravaganza, we found the cache, signed the log, you know the drill. That was our last Merrit Island cache prior to heading back to Orlando.

Green (GC2E9PW)

THIS CACHE. We have gone to look for this cache at least 3 times, and every time was a “could not find”. Nick emailed the creator and even got a hint from him — we went back after their correspondance, still no luck. So today on our way to Goodwill, Nick suggested that we go try for this one again. We did and we finally finally finally got it! The log is on the back of a white magnet with some black numbers on it, which is stuck on an electrical box with lots of other numbers, plates, and stickers on it. Now knowing what to look for, it’s an easy find. But going in there blind… this was a difficult one! Anyway, we finally found it and, needless to say, it was a very satisfying ending to our day o’caching.

Keep calm and cache on.

So far we’ve got 3… There’ll be pictures later, we promise :)

Nick is back in Florida, so Tiffolas caching is back in business! We did our first one together yesterday.

Star GC2NGD5

Quick little micro — the sun was in my face and clearly burning my eyeballs, so I had to hide behind Nicholas and squinch my little face.

Anyway… there will be more where that came from, I promise on both of our behalves. Maybe even today! Who knows!!!!

It’s good to be back :] Soon to come: Chicago caching! We’ll be there in early August and definitely intend to geocache while we explore.

  • Question: My job takes me down to Orlando (well, Maitland actually) and I've done some caching around the area but mostly I cache on the way back home the back roads through The Villages and such.
    In Maitland, mostly drive-by caches.
Its always great to find another geocacher on here! - wkmcdada
  • Answer:

Yay! We do most of our Orlando caching in the UCF area, but I’ve been able to venture out towards Loch Haven Park more regularly now on account of the theater being there.

Thank you and welcome to new followers :]

I started my internship at the Orlando Repertory Theatre about 2 weeks ago, so time to go geocaching is scarce. I’m hoping to do some this week. And I know that Nick has been swamped with stuff to do up in Ithaca — he’s done a couple of caches, but hasn’t really had the time to post stuff.

In other news: there’s gonna be some Chicago caching going on come August. Any followers in/from the area or have any really good caches to pick up while we’re there? Reply or send us a message, we’d love to hear about it!

Picked this up before getting to the theater this morning. It was my first of this kind, so it took me a second to find it. But I knew it as soon as I saw it.

In other news, I am missing my partner in crime.

Again, quick grab on the way to the theater. :)
